Au Bon Climat

Santa Barbara County, California

Au Bon Climat, one of the first wineries in Santa Barbara County, has cultivated an international reputation for its Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris sourcing fruit from local, highly regarded vineyards including estate plantings at Bien Nacido Vineyard in the Santa Maria Valley and Rancho La Cuna in the Los Alamos Valley. Every vintage multiple Pinots and Chards are produced, many vineyard designated, and all highly acclaimed.

The winery was established in 1982 by Jim Clendenen, considered one of the lions of the wine industry, and recognized worldwide for his classically styled wines of balance and restraint. Jim was essential to elevating Burgundian varietals on California’s Central Coast and was a dynamic, driving force until his death in May 2021.  The winery continues his legacy with a top-notch winemaking team hand selected by Jim Clendenen and headed by long time (30 years) winemaker Jim Adelman. The second generation of Clendenens, Isabelle and Knox, are now involved with all aspects of the winery.
